Dear Hauptstadt
You call me back,
again and again.

It is the flashbacks
emerging in my mind,
memories of places
I’ve been to or just passed by…

It’s the busy place of Friedrichstraße.
Looking at the station, while waiting
for the next tram,

It’s strolling along Bernauer Straße,
considering the life of people living here
and of those who died,
trying to escape
to another life,
in a time some decades away

It’s loosing my breath for being deeply touched
by the mosaic in Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche

And it is, of course, since my first time in Berlin,
sitting by a table at Café Wintergarten im Literaturhaus,
philosophizing, enjoying a delicious meal followed by coffee
while absorbing the atmosphere and getting inspired
to spread my wings of writing…
